Research and Development (R&D)
Research is a disciplined means of acquiring new knowledge which enables people to understand a problem and find an effective and meaningful solution. Further research helps in assessing priority needs, planning, Execution, evaluating the outcome in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, communication of results, report writing, approach towards writing a project proposal, acquiring funding from various organizations etc.To achieve the highquality research ambience the following policies have been undertaken. Aresearch development cell has been established that will prepare and implement the documents fordevelopment of research and development activities within the Institute.
Establishment of Research and Development (R&D) cell:
The Research and Development (R&D) Cell was established in 2012 as per the decisionstaken by the Academic Council.
The R&D Cell comprise of the following members
- Principal – Chairman (ex officio member)
- Dean (ex officio member)
- Head of all Departments (ex officio member)
- Members and Senior Faculty as nominated by the Director/Principal (ex officio member)
- Nominee from the Industry
- Nominee form the University
- Nominee from Network Institution.
Note: Head/Members should have Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) and Head/Members should have Research publications in refereed journals to their credit.
Aurora’s Degree & PG College has initiated its Research & Development Cell in 2013 and functional actively with the support of management and Principal.
Objectives
- To promote Research culture among faculty and students.
- To monitor the API scores of the faculty periodically and give necessary suggestion for improving the same.
- To encourage faculty to take up major and minor research projects including interdisciplinary fields.
- To make understand the importance of Research publications in referred Journals and in journals with impact factors and encourage them to publish Research Papers in the same.
- To establish long term collaborations with Institute- R&D Organization and companies.
- To nurture the core competence and promote for various Consultancy projects and works
- To encourage faculty for the PhD programmes
- To extend support for faculty and students to present papers at various National and International Conferences.
Roles and Responsibilities of Research & Development cell
- Strengthening the Institutes research capabilities
- Creating a conducive atmosphere wherein, more number of faculty and students continue and conduct research
- Promote faculty research through various publications which increases the research productivity
- Motivation of faculty to write projects for various funding agencies
- Encourage faculty to participate in various review panels and other research related programmes
- Development of modalities of accepting, reviewing, benchmarking, refereeing and publishing research/technical/working papers
- Facilitate the conduction of sponsored research of the faculty
- Facilitate the consultancy work for both faculty and students and monitor the same
- Formulation of norms and policy for sponsored research and consultancy projects
- Preparation of guidelines for Ph.D. programmes, attending conferences, seminars, workshops, training/ Refresher courses.
- Encouraging faculty and students to communicate to the research world through presentation in various conferences and publications
- Develop policy on Faculty development programmes, Conferences, Seminars, workshops etc.
- Maintenance and updating the research projects, workshops, training/ Refresher courses, conferences, presentations at various seminars and conferences, publications etc.
- Development and maintenance of Research data management systems
- Monitoring the progress of project and research work and providing the report on the performance of faculty and students
- Promote Industry-Institution interaction
- Facilitate collaboration with various industries in the form of MOUs which enables consultancy works, exchange programme and technology development projects
- Extending support regarding Patents, Know-how and Technology Transfer
- Motivation of students and faculty for summer internships and Fellowship programmes
- Monitoring the effective utilization of funds for externally funded projects
- Focus on the current research and developing a plan for future knowledge development
- Formation of research ethics committee
Terms of Office
- Members of the R&D cell other than ex officio members serve for terms of up to five years.
- An appointed member may be appointed to serve for additional terms as per the approval of the Principal of the Institute.
Meeting Schedule
The R&D cell meets at least two times each semester. The Chairman/Coordinator is responsible for determining if more meetings are required.
Reporting
The R&D cell reports to the Chairman and IQAC team by way of its minutes.
